- Our Story

Cabañas El Abuelo is a family project born from the desire to preserve the paradise that Grandpa Abdon acquired as the fruit of his lifelong hard work. He was always a lover and protector of the countryside, and his greatest wish was to build dreams and memories where family unity would always reign. Following this legacy, Cabañas El Abuelo was created with all the respect, love, and conviction that our guests should feel and experience this place as their home, the home that Grandpa built for each of us.

Located just 40 minutes from Chingaza National Natural Park, the village of Santa Helena is a refuge of peace and natural beauty.

With its breathtaking views and tranquility that fills every corner, this place is perfect for those seeking a deep connection with nature.

Here, wildlife is rich and diverse. Among the representative mammals of this area are the majestic spectacled bear and the elegant white-tailed deer, as well as a variety of birds, including the Andean condor and vibrant hummingbirds. The páramo and high Andean forest ecosystems create a unique habitat, home to endemic plants such as frailejones, wild orchids, and the bear’s paw (Oreopanax incisus), inviting you to live an experience immersed in the green of our mountain. Every sunrise and sunset here offers an opportunity to rediscover the purity of nature and inner peace. The generally humid climate transforms the landscape into a mystical atmosphere, with the fog slowly revealing the wildlife, the dawn, and the entire ecosystem that thrives here.
